SOSSUSVLEI

DAYS 4-5

After breakfast, we head out via private charter on a scenic helicopter ride over the pro-Namib dune fields to Sossusvlei a little further to the north.

If Namibia is the ramp model of southern African countries then Sossusvlei is her cat walk. Experience the highest dunes in the world, some of them soaring over 300m off the desert floor from the seat of a private helicopter and on the ground on a guided excursion in an open Land Rover.

Sossusvlei, situated in the heart of the Namib Naukluft National Park; one of the largest conservation areas in Africa, is one of the highlights of any trip to Namibia. You will be left spellbound by the enormous red sand dunes which rear 300m (985 feet) up off the desert plateau. These are among the highest sand dunes in the world.

WHERE THE DUNES MEET THE SEA

DAYS 6-7

After an early morning breakfast we head out on a 1.5 hour private helicopter flight over the Namib Dune Sea and follow the Atlantic coastline where the dunes swirl down to kiss the sea, turn north from Meob Bay and follow the shoreline towards the Eduard Bohlen shipwreck and north over the Dorob National Park and one of the most important wetlands in the world for breeding flamingo to our destination; the quaint little German town of Swakopmund.

Enjoy the cobbled streets and picturesque buildings, drink ale in one of the quaint pubs and indulge in some delicious seafood cuisine at one of the sophisticated restaurants with views of the ocean and the endless skeins of cormorants returning home from their fishing forays.

Sandwich Harbour, part of the Namib Naukluft Park, is a place many have heard of but very few have ever visited. The lagoon, salt pans and the bird sanctuary, which form the Walvis Bay Wetlands, are rightly heralded as the single most important coastal wetlands of Southern Africa. It is one of five Ramsar sites in Namibia. Giant sand dunes run straight into the ocean, creating breathtaking sceneries and unique landscapes, just waiting to be discovered! We discover these dunes and enjoy a champagne and oyster lunch between the dunes.

SKELETON COAST AND DAMARALAND

DAYS 7-9

After breakfast we head north following the fabled Skeleton coast and over the Cape Cross seal colony in our private helicopter before heading inland into the breathtaking mountain region of the Damaraland and the Koaoveld

In a country jam-packed with vast, spectacularly beautiful landscapes, Damaraland and Kaokoland may just be the most incredible of them all. Deep in north-western Namibia, the area is a melee of towering mountains, sand dunes, and huge expanses of desert, scattered with unique wildlife and nomadic Himba settlements. It’s also one of Namibia’s most remote and wild environments, and one that not many will get the chance to discover in a lifetime.

Se off on game drives tracking endangered rhino, desert-adapted elephant, and desert-adapted giraffe

Strap on your walking shoes for a guided nature walk over the rolling dunes, rocky mountains and desert plains crisscrossed by ancient, dry riverbeds. Nomadic Himba settlements dot the landscape, and scattered herds of desert-adapted elephant and giraffe are a common sight.

Exchange smiles on a cultural experience with the local Herero people before retiring to your private veranda to marvel at the magnitude of your surroundings (G&T in hand).
